Treatments for dry and flaky scalp?

Coconut oil is a great choice to dramatically reduce the amount of dandruff created while keeping your hair shiny and moisturized. Other natural oils, however, such as argan oil, black seed oil and olive oil will also provide beneficial treatment for dry flaky scalp.

How do I prevent Breakage?

This usually occurs when dreadlocks are too dry, and by wearing the same hairstyles over and over again (ponytails, flat twists) and frequent re-twisting and/or interlocking maintenance.
This puts repeat tension and strain on the same locks. Generally, this results in breakage around the hairline and thinner locks at the roots.
For afro kinky hair, adopt a regiment of a light daily moisturizer. When your hair is dry, it will be prone to breakage. Hair should feel soft to the touch. Just because you have locks doesn't mean that your hair has to feel rough and dry. Depending on the dreadlock method, hair should be twisted no more than every 2 -3 weeks for dreadlock twists and every 8-9 weeks for interlocking.

What is the best way to remove buildup and lint trapped in dreadlocks?

Locked up hair is prone to buildup, as it is no longer worn loosely. Choose all-natural products that are on the lighter side to prevent this. Aloe Vera Gel, Jojoba oil, Castor oil, Grapeseed oil, Olive oil and Argan oil are all highly recommended. You may also purchase apple cider vinegar for an ACV wash. This will help put the lint and unwanted residue to the surface of the hair making it easier to pick out. For deeply rooted lint you may use a tweezer to carefully remove the lint.

Do you accept walk-in appointments?

Services provided by appointment only. Walk-ins without notice is not accepted.

What is a good dreadlocks shampoo for washing?

Reduce residue built up in your hair by using an all-natural clarifying (transparent) shampoo of your choice. Liquified black soap shampoo, for example, works up a great lather and deeply cleans your dreadlocks.

How do I properly wash my dreadlocks?

Choose a natural shampoo that builds up a good lather to carry unwanted material away. Wash hair as you normally would by lathering and thoroughly getting into the scalp. Squeeze water out of the ends of your dreadlocks to help the drying process.

As your hair lengthens your wet dreadlocks will become increasingly heavier. Sectioning your hair into four parts will make the task easier. Literally scrubbing your dreadlocks together in bunches will do wonders for thoroughly cleaning your hair.

When to wash dreadlocks after startup installation?

You may wait about three to four weeks before your first wash. This would provide time for your hair to set and get used to the form. When ready, be gentle and let the running water and shampoo do most of the work until your dreadlocks are cured.

Make sure to properly shampoo and dry at least once a month.

This is an essential step for the maintenance of your locks. Hair should be washed every 2-3 weeks even when beginning the locking process. The water will Kink and curl your hair speeding up the locking process.

Do you wash the Client's hair?

No. Thoroughly wash your own hair prior to each visit. By not doing so may result in you being turned away without service.

Can I remove dreadlocks after the process is complete?

With some effort, newly formed dreadlocks may be removed with a fine-tooth comb, however, when the dreadlocks reach maturity lots of conditioners will be needed along with the fine-tooth comb to eventually loosen your hair. Before deciding lock to your hair, be sure that a permanent dreadlocks solution is what you really want. Otherwise, your hair may be left looking undesirable due to hair loss, and change of texture which may result in you deciding to shave or cut your hair in the end.

How do I properly dry my dreadlocks?

Locks kept in a wet state can become susceptible to bacterial growth and mould.  After washing, leave your locks down rather than putting them up in a style, this holds in too much moisture.

The natural sun will allow them to get a good air dry.

Why do I need to cover my dreadlocks?

Use a satin or silk fabric scarf. Covering your hair at night will do 4 things:

Keeps your hair moisturized. Cotton sheets rob your hair of its -natural moisture.

It prevents lint. The friction of rubbing on sheets causes lint balls in your locks.

It prevents frizz.

It prevents breaking.
